A little about me...

My World...

“Life is an opportunity, benefit from it.
Life is beauty, admire it.
Life is a dream, realize it.
Life is a challenge, meet it.
Life is a duty, complete it.
Life is a game, play it.
Life is a promise, fulfill it.
Life is sorrow, overcome it.
Life is a song, sing it.
Life is a struggle, accept it.
Life is a tragedy, confront it.
Life is an adventure, dare it.
Life is luck, make it.
Life is too precious, do not destroy it.
Life is life, fight for it.”
― Mother Teresa

I am from a small town in Riverside County. Since coming to San Diego to attend the University of San Diego (USD), I have some time to appreciate the beauty of both a city and small town. I enjoy visiting home often and experiencing the comfort of untouched land and my dog, Chops. I love to stay active by discovering new hiking trails, playing beach and indoor volleyball, stargazing at night,  and watching sunsets as much as possible (even sunrises!).

I have a supportive family: 3 olders sisters, a brother-in-law, a beautiful niece, a mother, and a father. Everyday I am inspired by their resilience, hard work, and passion to care for others. My parents always said, "No one can take your education away". This is ingrained in my passion to provide all students equitable learning environments. Also, I blame my parents for my constant flow of ideas and dreams :) They taught my sisters and I to work hard, to always assist others, to always have a dream, and to follow our hearts. Thanks to my family, mentors, and friends, everyday I try to be a better version of myself.

I am fortunate to have such a wonderful and enriching opportunity to participate in the HighTechHigh Graduate School of Education and work alongside other graduate students and be part of an elementary school community.

The teachers and other school personnel are caring, supportive, and intentionally collaborative in every teaching move they make. It is incredible to be part of a school culture where it is not uncommon for teachers to be in working groups and discussing ideas, strategies, and providing feedback to help build capacity in one another.

After Spring break, I became the classroom teacher for lovely 4th grade students at this school. It was an opportunity to implement new ideas about teaching and learning from the GSE program. Being part of this community has helped me find my voice and further develop my beliefs about teaching and learning.
